The 2010 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award has just made another round of cuts. The contest started with 10,000 novels, which were cut to 1,000 and then 500 by Amazon Vine Program participants. The 500 were just cut to 100 by Publishers Weekly. Of those 100, fifty are young adult novels, and Demon Queen is one of them!
Editors at Penguin are now reading the top 100 manuscripts and at the end of May, they will cut them down to six finalists.
As part of this process, I got a review from Publishers Weekly. Here’s an excerpt:
Characters and plot propel readers through this exciting story. Kevin, Jackie and Joseph are all convincing teens with real contributions to the manuscript…Skillfully written, this novel will captivate teens, including reluctant readers.
