3 Bits of Book News

A new Stephen King novel is out this week. I’ll be reading it…eventually. I love that guy. He’s so much a part of my childhood, and I’m impressed and inspired that over the past 10 years, he’s really been in a sort of renaissance. Mr. Mercedes and 11/22/63 (the JFK novel) were both Top 10 King books for me…I think. Maybe that’s a future post — a full ranking of the King books, or at least best and worst. Anyway, if you read this new one, email me or comment here to tell me what you thought.

Amazon and Hachette have ended their dispute. Amazon will allow Hachette to control their pricing on Amazon, but will reward them with more margin for books that sell at lower prices.

The title and jacket have been announced on the new book by Brian Selznick, author and illustrator of the amazing book Hugo. Due out next year, it will be called The Marvels.

This week or next, I might have some news of my own on an upcoming release. Watch this space, or like the Facebook page. I’ll put it in both spots. Until then, have a great weekend everyone!

*shudder* I never could get past maybe the first or second chapter of any Stephen King novel. His ability to drive horror home in a graphic, coarse, in your face kind of way chilled me far too quickly. But then, horror was the one genre I never could stand to begin with.

And I am not your number one fan. In case you were wondering. 🙂

You’re not my number 1 fan? Well, Betsy, I suppose #1 is hard to quantify, but I definitely think you’re in the top 1%. 8^)

I’ve been a Stephen King guy since middle school, when I took a hardback copy of Carrie off the shelf and went to the desk, nervous that they weren’t going to let me check it out because I was too young. I still remember how thrilling it was to walk out of the library with that book in my backpack. I haven’t read all of his books (this new one is number 55!), but I’ve read all the big ones, and I agree with you. He is skilled at putting it all in your face in a way that can make you uncomfortable. I remember The Mist, in particular, being one that was so intense it was hard to read.
